  • Digital drugs

    1punmq

Ok so I keep hearing about this thing called Binaural beats that is supposedly a digital sound wave that stimulates certain parts of the brain and gives you a high feeling. It is said that they can alter moods, traits, and even conciousness. You say it gets you high huh? Well who better to be your guinea pig than myself. So today we are going to pop in our headphones, kick back on our bean bag, and listen to the sounds of the latest digital drug. I'm sure your curious as to what these beats will sound like. I imagined some hippy music. My heart nearly shot through my chest when the sound came on at full blast and it was neither  pleasant or relaxing! In fact it freaked me out. I just kept thinking of white noise. I spent the rest of the minute long clip worrying I would suddenly hear demonic voices trying to talk to me through the fuzz (maybe I was high after all lol). After my first experience with a binaural bit I was feeling a bit jumpy. Not in a high way, in a you-just-scared-the-pants-off-me way . I decided to take a little break from listening and find out just what it was I had just pumped into my ear at full volume.

While I was waiting for the ringing to subside I learned that a binaureal beat is created by playing a different tone in each ear, and the interference pattern between the slightly differing frequencies creates the illusion of a beat. Besides just getting you "high" there are also claims it can make you sleep better, relax you, help you quit smoking, make you lose weight, make you smarter, etc. You name it and I am sure someone has made a beat that can supposedly fix it.

Now the question we have all been waiting for: Does it actually have any effect on your brain? As far as I can tell no. I mean if the sound of the ocean or crickets puts you to sleep and you listened to a binaural beat like that then yeah I guess it works but it doesnt work the way people are claiming it does. I'm not high or calm or smarter (as far as I can tell )  So as far as I am concerned this is a myth but if you dont belive me go ahead and try it for yourself. Google binaural beats and give em a test run. Let me know how it goes for you.

I got all my sounds from idose.com

  • R.I.P. Maquelle Ashley Madsen

Maquelle was in an accident and passed away. She was a Vixen at the club I worked at. She was so full of life! I cant believe she's gone :(   She loved to dance and one of my favorite memories of her is after the club had closed and everyone was hanging out after hours. So what by pink came on and all the Vixens went nuts dancing. Maquelle and Amanda were singing at the top of their lungs and dancing all over the place. She had this bullet bike that I was in LOVE with! I wanted her to teach me to ride. I'm going to miss her a lot. She was a way cool girl. Miss you Maquelle :(

  • #65 identify the deadly snakes in my area

                       content_img_4137_img

I love to hike but up until now I have never really learned how to be safe about it. I have near death experiences with snakes all the time and I decided this year was the year to learn how to identify what snakes in my area are poisonous and how to avoid them. Here is what I learned, hopefully it can help some of you too.

    Rattlesnakes

    Copperheads

    Coral Snakes

    Pit Vipers

Most snake bites occur during afternoon and evening hours in summer months. Bites on the arms and legs account for more than 90 percent of snake bites. In general, venomous snakes have slits for eye pupils, and non-venomous have round pupils. Here are other ways to identify poisonous ones

  • 1

Identify a venomous snake by the shape of its head. Most venomous snakes have rather flat, heart-shaped heads that are distinctly wider than their bodies and have more pointed noses than harmless snakes.

  • 2

Differentiate a venomous Coral snake from a harmless King snake by the location of the yellow stripes that encircle its body. On a Coral, the yellow stripes separate the red and the black so red touches yellow. Leave that fellow alone.

  • 3

Distinguish a Rattlesnake from a harmless Bull snake by the dry scaly nodules on the end of its tail that make a distinct buzzing noise as the tail quivers, although sometimes a rattler has lost its rattles and can't make this noise.

  • 4

Examine the snake's head from afar to see if there is a ridge or pit between the eye and the nostril. Pit vipers such as Rattlesnakes, Copperheads and Cottonmouths all have this indentation. The indentation is a heat detector that helps them identify appropriate-sized prey by the amount of heat emitted.

  • 5

Recognize a Rattlesnake by a diamond shaped pattern along the length of the snake. There are 27 different species of Rattlesnakes, however, and each has its own distinctive markings.

  • 6

Mark a Cottonmouth snake, also known as the Water Moccasin, by the pale stripes on both sides of a darker head.

  • 7

Confirm a Copperhead snake by the classic copper color with darker hourglass shaped markings around its body

Do the following things as you take a snakebite victim to medical care:

* Get help immediately.
* Above all, keep the victim calm, restrict movement, and keep the affected area below heart level to reduce the flow of venom.
* Wash the bite area with soap and water.
* Remove any rings or constricting items; the affected area will swell.
* Cover the bite with a clean, moist dressing to reduce swelling and discomfort.
* Monitor vital signs (pulse, temperature, breathing, blood pressure) of the victim. If there are signs of shock, lay the victim flat and cover with a warm blanket.
* Bring the dead snake if this can be done without further risk of injury. Remember, the snake may bite up to 1 hour after being killed due to reflexes.

Here is what you should not do:

* Do not allow the person to engage in physical activity such as walking or running. Carry the victim if he or she needs to be moved.
* Do not apply a tourniquet to the area above the wound.
* Do not apply a cold compress to the bite area.
* Do not cut into the bite.
* Do not give the victim stimulants or pain medications
* Do not give the victim anything to eat or drink.
* Do not raise the bit area above the level of the victim's heart.
* Do not try to suction the venom - doing so may cause more harm than good.

If you are unable to reach medical care within 30 minutes, the American Red Cross recommends:
*Apply a bandage, wrapped two to four inches above the bite, to help slow the venom. This should not cut off the flow of blood from a vein or artery - the band should be loose enough to slip a finger under it.
*A suction device can be placed over the bite to help draw venom out of the wound without making cuts. These devices are often included in commercial snakebite kits.

  • Strange TBL dream

                                  28656_1403846128962_1016616831_1182124_283490_n

Ok so I don’t know if any of you watch the show on MTV called The Buried Life but if you don’t you really should. Its pretty good. Iv'e been making lists since I was 12 but never really had a name for it. I'm so glad the Buried life came along because now I have a name for what I'm doing. It sounds a lot better than crazy girl writing millions of to do lists ;) Anyway, I love it and watch it all the time which led to this weird dream I am about to tell you about. Ok so to catch you up, the guys on the show are 4 college age guys who were sick of living life day to day getting buried in the stuff they had to do and not doing what they wanted to do. so they made a list of things they wanted to do before they die, got a giant purple transit bus,  and began traveling the country crossing off the items. For everything they cross of their list they help another person cross an item off their own list.

Ok so now that your caught up I dreamed that me and the team (Untamed) went back to Cabo again for our calendar shoot like last year. We invited the boys because it was something on their list that they wanted to do (in my dream) and when we got there they asked me what I wanted to do before I died and I said elope (which is true) and one of the guys was like oh that’s awesome because I wanna fall in love. So Duncan (who became a minister online in real life as part of his list) being the helpful guy that he is married us on the cruise ship. So When we got back from the trip I had to move into the bus with them because they were still on the road. Well with four guys on a bus it was already crowded but adding me was ridiculous! The bathroom was so tiny if you brushed your teeth you were practically elbow to wall on both sides. There were only bunk beds which were ridiculous to try and share. And there was no space for ANYTHING! They didn’t have space for their clothes let alone mine. When I asked my new husband (I'm not saying which one it was because that will just confuse people) where I was supposed to keep my stuff he looked around and finally found a cupboard the size of a shoe box and said it was all mine. So basically I had a tiny makeup bag with my hairbrush, tooth brush and makeup and bras and underwear since that’s all that fit. To save on space I had to share clothes with him and wear all his stuff. (Have you seen the clothes these guys wear?! A penguin suit...) Everything was so big on me! That’s when I woke up.

The moral of this story is 1- Do not watch The Buried Life right before bed, 2- I think this is my brains way of telling me I have too much stuff. I need to get my closet and room cleaned out because there is no way I could fit into one closet let alone a cupboard! :P I could fill that bus with shoes alone. Too much? Maybe but what can I say I’m a girl. I love clothes, shoes, and accessories. Looks like its donation time again :D

  • winter dew tour

It ended up being just me and J working this one. I was really sad more of the girls couldn’t come to work this event because I love working with my whole group. Poor J was so sick she could barely stand but you know how my team is. We’ll show up and work full energy with a smile on our face no matter what. When we got there we found out that Aleena my friend from high school was working the event too. I hadn’t seen her in a long time so I was super excited. I thought I was going to be working in the Dew tent with my friends but I ended up working the shack at the bottom of the hill instead. There were only three of us and one happened to be a girl from a rival team that hates me. Yay for awkward situations! The tent was heated but the shack wasn’t so I was freezing to death in my lumber jack snowboarding gear (yes I said lumber jack). The shack was supposed to be a throwback to the original Mountain Dew advertisements which evidently centered around hillbillies. Our gear was made to look like denim jeans and a plaid jacket. Our shack was really just a shed with hillbilly signs all over it and inside they had two barrels with tubes coming out of them attached to gasoline cans (so it would look like we were making bootleg Mountain Dew). What a bad idea! Athletes thought that our table was the place to drop off pee for the drug test Lol and people thought we were making “moonshine” or something and kept making comments like “This is a family event!” while giving us dirty looks. The table out front had Mountain Dew cups free for the taking but nobody wanted them because it was so cold they turned to ice (and I’ll admit they did look a little like pee). The whole situation turned out to be ok though because I learned a pretty cool trick turning water into ice instantly in my water bottle.

  • #78 Go to Hobbitville

While talking with some friends a place called "Hobbitville" came up. I had never heard of it before so I asked them to tell me what it was. They said that there was a village where a bunch of midgets (their words not mine) all lived together and everything was small. This intrigued me. Of course I wanted to go see it. Who wouldnt? I also didnt fully believe them. I mean a bunch of little people in their own tiny town? Not to mention its located on 13th and 13th which sounded pretty sketchy to me. I called Alexa, Brooke, and Jenna and as always they were ready to come with me.

We pulled up to the spot and there was a gate so we parked the car and went inside. It was creepy still. There were no animals or anything in there. As we walked we noticed that there were sayings painted on rocks and things. It was a little odd but not what people made it seem like. When we got to the houses in the community we were dissapointed to see that the houses were normal size :-/ A man was outside getting his mail and he scowled at us. He was about 4 feet tall. Not big for a man, but not exactly tiny either. He dissapeared inside his house and we continued to explore. I wish I could tell you that we found Snow white and a witch was hiding in the woods.... or anything exciting really, but it was pretty anti-climatic. All of a sudden rocks started flying around us. People were throwing rocks at our face. I guess scowly man had told some of his friends and they were too happy about us being there. We took off running to the car and they followed throwing rocks the whole time. They didnt stop til we crossed the bridge.

Final verdict: The people are shorter than average and slightly hostile but there is nothing worth seeing at the legendary "Hobbitville" in Salt Lake City.

Yeah and the village has a million rocks!
