It's so hard to choose! There are so many good causes. I think it might be easier to name some organizations that I love and support on a regular basis. Take a look at a few of them. You might really like what you see. Ok here it goes top ten (In random order):
1- Make a wish foundation: They make wishes come true for children with serious medical conditions. I support this because I feel like there is so much negativity in the world as it is, let alone being sick and in a hospital all the time. Anything that promotes dreams coming true, or adds a little magic to a childs life gets my full support.
2-OA: OA Projects is a low-cost, high-impact grassroots organization using the power of soccer to help youth affected by war.
Not only do I support this movement but someday I want to actually go to one of these places and volunteer. Africa especially.

3-Ronlad McDonald House: Helps families with children who are being treated at local medical facilities. The parents of these children are already going through the nightmare of having their child be sick. Pain and suffering breaks my heart. I feel like the families are often forgotten in these types of situations so I volunteer to try and help ease some of their stress and to give them more time to be with their children.

4-Locks of love- a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children under age 18 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. I think a girls hair is a HUGE part of her self esteem. Most of us dont really think about it because we are happy with how our hair is for the most part. What about when you get a bad hair cut that you absolutely hate? How self concious does that make you feel? Now think if you had no hair at all. My hair is wild and can be difficult at times but I grow it out long anyway so that I can donate every year. I have a personal goal of donating enough for 2-3 wigs each time.

5-Bake a wish- Through their Soldiers Angels partnership you can buy a cake from them and for every cake you buy they will send a cake to a deployed soldier for his birthday. It comes nicely packaged with a personalized card. I imagine all those people out there fighting for my freedom and how many are feeling lonely and forgotten. The ones that dont get a lot of letters..or worse dont get any. No one should ever feel lonely or forgotten especially on their birthday. I try to buy cakes as often as I can so that they know people still care and that we are thinking about them.

6-Jeans for teens- Aero Partners up with Do Something and you can donate your gently used jeans to be given to homeless teens throughout the U.S. I've been homeless before, and I've stayed in a shelter before. As a young teen girl that was very scary! Luckily I had clothes and a shelter to stay at. Not all teens have that. I cant track them all down and bring them into my home so instead I send my jeans along with other clothes and blankets that I donate to try and help them out.

7-Do Something- An amazing organization that helps kids get grants for their projects. They also have lots of ways you can help out for all kinds of causes anything from environmental, to homelessness, natural disaster relief, going green, aspca, and more. No matter what I am looking for or who I want to help Do Something always has a project for it. I love this site!

8- Local rescue missions: These are the local homeless shelters. Check yours out. You would be surprised at the life stories of the people there. They are not at all like they are being portrayed on tv etc. Like I said I have been homeless before. I often stop by and serve dinner. There are some people that volunteer but they are kind of mean or treat the people like they are dirty, dangerous, or beneath them. I try to go and have a good attitude and interact with them because I want them to know that I like spending time with them and that I'm not judging them. A lot of times I bring a basketball or a cd player and cds so we can do kareokee while serving dinner. Its a lot of fun and the people are all so nice. I really reccommend giving this a try once and see how it makes you feel and what kinds of amazing people you can meet.
9-Sheckler foundation: Unlike what people seem to believe Ryan is actually a really nice and down to earth guy. After meeting with him and his mom I got to hear a lot more about his foundation and I really support it. The money raised through the Sheckler Foundation will be used to fund medical research that focuses on curing childhood disease, spinal cord injuries and enrichment programs for children in underprivileged communities.

10-After school programs: Local schools are always looking for volunteers and helping those kids is really rewarding.... just saying. I do these because 1. education is important. I know you hear it a million times but these kids really are our future. Sometimes they just need someone to believe in them or to invest a little time into them. 2. You never know why they are there. They arent "the dumb" kids or "the bad" kids like people seem to think. Often times they are smart and want to learn more than they are getting in their normal classes or they have problems at home and dont want to go home or dont have parents to go home to.
I just answered this Featured Question; you can answer it too!
