  • Mac Miller Concert

    423041_276954069038704_100001723393766_703497_674725554_n

Mac Miller is in town for Winter Dew Tour because he is doing the concert this year. Since I have celebrity invites to do before the MTV Lounge I decided it might be a good time to get his invites done. I didn't exactly have a game plan but I decided to wing it and see what happened. I dressed up in my pencil skirt and heels even though it was freezing because I didn't want them to think I was just some kid trying to get autographs or something. I had to start at the back of the crowd (it was outside) and make my way through all the people (and the weed) to get to the front by the stage. I was feeling kind of sick when I got there because it took FOREVER to get all the way up front and there is no clean air to breathe at a Mac Miller concert, not even when you're outside. I finally made it though and walked right up to security that was guarding the back area where crew was coming in and out. I told them I was there to speak with Mac's manager. I thought they would give me more trouble but they didn't. While they were gone I quickly wrote out the details of the lounge and then gave it to his manager when security got back. Simple as that. They had me come to the back in his trailer and we exchanged a bunch of info. Now we're set. I wish all the invites were that easy!

I have some video I made while making my way through the crowd (might as well right?) so I'll post it later

It's the middle of the night and I can't sleep at all. I have a million things on my mind to stress about and all I can think about is chips. Maybe this is a good thing ;)

  • Sundance day 4: police, stoned celebrities making snow angels, flirting, gifts,

    IMG8610-copy-S

I thought today was going to suck so bad. We were so short staffed. We needed about 23 models and there were 6. One of them being me and technically I don’t walk celebs unless they are really important and Debbie wants them to have special attention or everyone else is already walking people. The girls were doing great to keep everything covered thankfully because my hands were so full with all the big projects I had put on me. First thing this morning a certain comedian/actor came in but we weren’t ready for him so he headed off to the bar. Then Danny Glover came in and they had me walk him. He is a little older so I had to yell a lot. I felt bad because the poor man was so exhausted. He just wanted to rest but everyone kept pulling him in all directions wanting pictures and interviews and wanting him to hold their product. They were just grabbing him talking over each other. They were swarming him. I’m not security and it’s not in my job description to do crowd control but I felt like it was necessary so I had them all go back to their places so I could bring him to them one at a time. He had his wife and assistant with him and they wanted to shop so while they were trying on sunglasses he found a spot to sit down in the back corner of the lounge. I lucked out because we had rare time to ourselves and he started telling me about this little old lady he met once on a mountain top in Haiti. Someone asked for a picture and he said they could take it but the lady started hiding her face. He asked her why she wouldn’t take a picture and she said because it steals your soul. He looked really tired then, and a little bit sad and he looked me dead in the eye and asked “do you know how many pictures and videos I do every day?” He almost seemed like he might be worried about his soul. Then there was just kind of this moment that you really had to be there for because it doesn’t make sense otherwise. We got to talk for about 20 more minutes and he told me some really deep things. Then it was over. People came over again and started asking for pictures one after another. When the first girl came up and asked for a picture he just gave me this look and then started taking pictures again. For some reason that look made me want to cry.

Not even one minute after he left they run me out front to talk to the cops because apparently the crazy blonde from the day before wants to sue us for firing her and because AJ supposedly stole her purse. Really the girl left it in the car when she was trying to steal it. So I have to explain to them how ridiculous she is, then I see the comedian/actor from earlier coming back to the lounge. He looked really confused and starts walking up the stairs but fell down a few of them. The hot guy they had working over at one of the vendor booths (I’ve been flirting with him all week) stops and tries to help him up but the celebrity gets up and looks really freaked out. He looks around like he has no idea where he is and takes off walking toward the bar again. I was supposed to get him in the lounge but technically he can do whatever he wants so I let him go to the bar and planned on catching up with him later. I went back into the lounge and immediately got assigned to lead the guys from the radio station around. It was a lot of fun because I got to do the hour long radio show with them and kind of hi jack the station but I was still a little paranoid about my actor/comedian coming back. He was drunk and stoned out of his mind and I was responsible for him.  As soon as I was done with the radio show and a few interviews on camera I ran over to the bar because they said he was really confused so he might need more help finding his way to the lounge. To get to the bar from the lounge you have to go out some doors and follow a windy path across to some other buildings. Well I was running along the path when I see this man kind of stumbling around and then he fell into a snow bank! I was trying really hard not to laugh because at the moment it wasn’t funny. I run up to him and he’s just laying there like he’s not sure how he got there. I asked him if he wanted help up and he picks up his arm and looks at it covered in snow. Then he sticks his head up and looks around some more. He started laughing and making a snow angel. I just stood there wondering what your supposed to do when a celebrity decides they need to make an impromptu snow angel. I ended up going to get help to get me to life him up since he was uncooperative and heavy (and soooo drunk) but when we got back there was only a body print in the snow! I guess he had wandered off into the lobby and then out to the front of the building. I was walking down the hall asking “did so-and-so just walk past here?” and they all pointed me in the right direction. Somehow I lost him in the parking lot. I know he couldn’t drive because he could barely walk but I looked everywhere and couldn’t see him. I even checked all the snow banks!

Since my celeb was MIA I went back to the lounge only to find that the police were there AGAIN. I just couldn’t shake those guys. This time they were there because some one had tipped them off that one of the vendors didn’t have the proper business license and they said they were going to shut the whole place down. We were trying to get it taken care of before the host found out because she freaks out over things really easily. Me, Andy who was acting as security, and the host’s assistant talked them into letting us send his wife right then and there to do the paperwork (having the park city mayor right there in the lounge with his band really helped move things along). The cops said ok but they would only give us until 5. We ended up getting it taken care of in time so nobody knew we almost got shut down. By then things relaxed quite a bit. I had some free time to go flirt with one of the really cute vendors. I had noticed during lunch that he was drawing something and it was really good. He seemed kinda shy so for the first two days we just smiled at each other from across the room and he would give me compliments when he got the chance but we didn’t really talk. He must have been a man on a mission today because he was flirting a ton (I’m totally guilty of flirting back) and then he gave me some of his art because I said I liked it and gave me his phone number and everything so we can stay in contact. The lounge was slowing down for the night and the last band was performing. Everyone was in a really good mood. While the band was setting up a bunch of people got on the red carpet for final photos and while they were taking pictures the band started to play and someone started dancing. Then more people started dancing and before you knew it the photographers, models, sponsors, vendors, and hosts were all involved in this spontaneous dance party. The band was giving it their all, the lead singer had his shirt and shoes off and started dancing on a chair and a bunch of the vendors were dancing on the furniture. The lounge hosts were head banging and booty shaking and swing dancing. It was so random but so fun. I felt like I was in a movie because that doesn’t usually happen in real life. Not my life anyway.  The video cameras were out and everyone was having a good time. I didn’t think to go grab my camera til right at the end so I missed the majority of it but I caught some people at the end. Then it was over way too soon and everyone was hugging and exchanging business cards. The sponsors were all so great. They don’t have to give us anything but they spoiled us with hats and t-shirts, joe perry’s amazing hot sauce, leather wallets, electronic cigarettes, snowboarding gear, a bunch of food from whole foods, custom designer jeans, purses, bracelets, hats, scarves, minky blankets, and hair straightners with mp3 players built into them. I wish the lounge was going to be open the whole week but it was time for them to get back to LA. We’ll see some of them again for the Oscar’s lounge so I’m pretty stoked about that. The rest gave us their contact information so we’ll definitely stay in touch. We still have some different lounges to work and a few more private parties so I’m sure I’ll have more stories to tell at the end of the week. I’m saving the most scandalous ones for last :D

  • Sundance Day 3: light up stripper pole, crazy b**ch, spirit hats, and your in good hands

    ilikewakingup&seeingastripperpoleinthemiddleofthekitchenthothatishgoesatParkCityUtah

Have some coffee and a morning lap dance :P

We were short staffed but I really thought it was going to be a good day anyway. I mean it couldn’t be any worse than the day before right? Wrong!!! It was so much worse. The condensation from being in the tent would fall from the ceiling when the wind blew so every once in a while you would get rained on unexpectedly. Then I had 5 new models to train. One was a pretty boy model with a really bad attitude problem. He kept bugging the sponsors trying to get himself work when he was supposed to be walking people through the lounge. Then when we put him at the door for security he said he was too good for it.

Then I had another model that was pissing off every sponsor, celeb, and person in the lounge. She was so annoying. I kept moving her around trying to find a spot that she could handle, but she insisted on being an idiot. She was talking over top of the sponsors, wandering away from her guests, and saying a bunch of inappropriate stuff. So even though I don’t use the girls as security I put her on security at the door in the farthest corner of the lounge. She grabbed some clothing off the sponsors table and just started putting it on. The sponsor isn’t a shy lady so she said “Take that off. You’re making it look bad!” That was the last straw. I had to fire her. I tried to get her out of the lounge but she started arguing with me. She saw the lounge host sitting up front at the check in desk and all of a sudden she took off. I ran after her and when I got to the table she was yelling at the lounge host. She’s like “Are you Debbie? Are you Debbie?!!!” and getting in her face. Thankfully Debbie ignored her and J.P. our security guy was like “Let’s talk about this outside.” So we take her outside and tell her she has to leave. She threw a giant tantrum but she left. It had been such a nightmare that I was glad it was finally over.

A few more celebs stopped by the lounge and the boys had fun rock, paper, scissoring over the playmate that came in. Then all of a sudden one of the hosts right hand ladies comes and finds me to tell me that blondie has come back to the lounge and attacked her. Blondie grabbed her by the arm and starts saying “do you know who the f*** I am!” (she’s miss park city for now but she wont be after I’m done.) and a bunch of other crap and saying that she wasn’t going to leave etc. etc. so security got rid of her AGAIN. They wanted me to go find her and put her on a shuttle that would take her off the mountain so she would quit causing a scene in the lodge. She rode up with one of my other models AJ and said she wouldn’t leave because AJ was her ride. We went down to see if they had seen her in the lobby and they said yes she had caused a big scene and went to valet. When they pulled up in AJ’s car the girl had gotten out to yell at valet so the valet ticket was in her name even though it was AJ’s car. The girl tried to freaking steal the car!!!! Thankfully she met some guys in the parking lot and ended up following them to the bar. We had to go get our lounge security and hotel security to throw her out. It felt like it took forever but they finally got her onto a shuttle and out of there.

On the bright side we saw Ludacris in the hotel and I got to walk Dennis Haysbert through the lounge. Unfortunately I didn’t know he was in any movies so I was like “oh you’re the Allstate Insurance guy right?” I mean, he is….but still. That was embarrassing. Back at the cabin some of the roommates put up a light up stripper pole and killed a bottle of black velvet whiskey. I knew they were going to be up pretty late. I went back to bing bar of course! Gotta love the free spirit hats :D They were giving them out to everyone at the lounge so I got a polar bear one. Then we hit a private party for a bunch of the warped tour crew and they gave us some free vans shoes. We finished off the night by hanging out with the cute guys from Lime Marketing. I knew them in high school so it’s really weird to see them now. Especially since some of them are pretty hot ;)

  • Sundance Day 2:Sleazy actor hitting on me, ho 1 and ho 2, and shopping match made in heaven with Mat

    388784_10150473395450566_629820565_9158412_2000196961_n

10 people, 1 shower, not a good idea :P We were all trying to get ready for work at the same time and of course with that many girls and only two bathrooms things were kind of crowded. We were all getting ready really fast so we wouldn’t be late for our first day in the Eco Hideaway Lounge. There had been a lot of snow the night before so the roads were really icy and for whatever dumb reason we decided to leave Andy’s jeep and take Brooke’s car up to the lodge. Brooke’s car is a total piece of junk on four wheels. We’re driving and sliding all over the place but doing ok because we managed to get directly behind a snow plow so it was slow going but it helped us get some traction. We were barely making it and then we pull up to the Stein Erickson drive way. It’s a long driveway up this big hill. We started inching up and then the car just started sliding backwards. We were all in there screaming and leaning forward trying to inch the car up the hill lol By some freaking miracle we made it!

The first day we got everyone trained and I had all the models I hired except for two that I had been told to add to the list. I was already unhappy with the idea because they had worked for the lounge in 2010 and they stayed there one day, slept with the lounge guests, and then quit. They were giving me attitude all morning but I decided maybe we could make it work if I only gave them female celebs to walk through the lounge. Things were going great for a while. We had a lot of really nice celebrities come in and the girls were doing a great job hanging out with them and taking them through the lounge. Kevin Sorbo came in and everyone was so stoked because they loved him as Hercules but I liked him because of Soul Surfer :P He stopped to take a bunch of pictures with us after Anja walked him through the lounge and we chatted about Australia for a while which led to an accent contest lol He is so easy to hang out with. It was really just like hanging out with a group of friends.

Then after he left the drama hit. The two ho’s as we like to call them had started propositioning one of the guests and we had a sudden rush of celebs coming in so I needed all my girls up front so I had them ready to walk the guests. All the other girls were out walking guests and the boys were covering as security so I only had these two. I walked up and said I need someone to come walk this next group. Ho 1 was like” no we aren’t going to walk anyone, we have to do interviews.” (There is a camera crew that walks through the lounge interviewing all the a-list celebs and one of the models gets to be on camera and do the interviews. The ho’s were saying that’s what they were going to do). I’m not used to that sort of thing at all! My girls never tell me no. I don’t have to fire people and I never have to be the mean boss or pull rank because they always handle themselves really professionally and they do what they need to do. I did my job though. I pulled those ho’s aside and told them they were fired and kicked them out. They were pissed and made a bunch of bratty comments on the way out but they left. Even though we were short by two people the day went a lot smoother after that. I walked Adam Gaynor from Matchbox 20 through the lounge. He was really nice and we spent a lot of time trying on sunglasses….well he tried them on and I told him which ones looked good and which ones didn’t :P He doesn’t like shaking hands so he fist pounds instead, but I guess he forgot the minimal touching thing though because he gave me the biggest hug. He has a poodle and he really loves her. She’s pretty spoiled. He pulled out his phone and showed me tons of pictures of her.

After work half of us went to sugar to watch concerts and half went to Bing Bar which is my favorite night spot at Sundance. Bing Bar is good about posting pictures so you can just look at those pics and that’ll pretty much show you what happened. One thing I can tell you is that a certain male actor that had a movie come out earlier this year was there to also promote a movie he had done for Sundance and he kept bugging me in the lounge. He just kept talking and following me around everywhere. I couldn’t get rid of him! He’s an attractive guy but when he talks he just comes off so sleazy. Well he kept trying to buy me a drink and I said I didn’t want one but he was insistent and bought me one anyway. I just held it to shut him up but I didn’t even take a sip. We were both sitting down and he leaned over like he was going to say something because it’s really loud in there. I thought he was going to say something but he put his hand on my leg and started kissing my neck. I think I was as creeped out as he was drunk. I was still kind of on edge because of the ho situation earlier so I wasn’t really in the mood to deal with it. I dumped my drink in his lap and left. He is such a creep. I am boycotting every movie he’s in because I don’t want to see his stupid face ever again.

the snow on our way home

  • Sundance day 1: Private party & we should have packed light

    401083_1015

The road up to the cabin. That's not even the bad part!

We really should have packed light but of course we never do. The house was a mess with clothes and shoes everywhere! We got off to a rough start and the animals in the house weren’t making things any easier. The stray dog we have at the house knocked me down the stairs first thing this morning and I was still sore from sleeping in the bath tub (I’ll explain that later), then the neighbor calls to say the stupid cat climbed up on their roof and went down their chimney. We got on the road later than we wanted to so we almost didn’t make it on time to our model orientation meeting that I was supposed to be in charge of. We did get up there just in time though. Parking during Sundance is generally $20 a day (so if you come for a visit  you want to find cheap alternatives) and we didn’t want to pay it so we parked in this lot that mainly locals park in and it’s free. Then a shuttle comes to pick you up and take you to main street. I felt really dumb because we weren’t sure where the shuttle was and we see this guy standing at the edge of the parking lot so we pulled up and asked him if he knew where the shuttle was. Literally RIGHT next to his head was a giant red sign that said SUNDANCE SHUTTLE lol He was really nice but Ber and Brooke who were in the car with me couldn’t stop laughing at me. So we get on the shuttle and ride it up to main street where all the action is. Riding the shuttle during the day is not nearly as fun as riding it at night. After all the parties everyone crams on the shuttle and they are all in party mode. Last year the bus was really full and some guy pulled out a flask and was offering me drinks from various bottles and flasks he had in all his different pockets. He was so drunk he could barely stand, and he nearly fell off of the bus every time the door opened. Someone in the back lit up and that got other people started and before you know it half the people in the back of the bus were smoking weed….but annnywaaayy, I’m getting off subject. So we take the bus up and look at the lounge. We thought we were going to be inside but it turns out we were actually in a giant tent. That had all of us a little worried. We weren’t supposed to be there just yet and we didn’t want to get in the crew’s way so we left for the cabin.

    166995_307181352661840_116800171699960_875167_2022038281_n

The driveway at the cabin in pretty much a straight drop off down a huge hill so we had to park our cars at the bottom of the mountain, squish everyone into the jeep, drive up to the road above the cabin, and then carry everything down the hill in snow up to our thighs. Anja fell in a hole waist deep with her giant bags lol We had a private party for a guest from out of town. He had amazing catering and the swag they were giving out was “off the hook” as Brooke put it lol We got clothes and snow gear and free massages and a bunch of other stuff that I know I’m forgetting. Our host was really nice and the other guests at the party were all really cool too. I was so bummed I couldn’t bring my camera because it was the type of party no one will believe I went to without pictures.

  • We are addicted to skype

Ever since I got skype on my computer I have been making everyone skype me when they want to talk lol I love it! Today I was skyping with Brooke forever. She had to leave to answer the door so I tried skyping with Max but he sucks at it. If you love skype as much as I do you should send me your screen name and maybe I'll come chat sometime

  • Dream interpretation: Black room, getting high, smoke, white x's

Ok so I dreamed that I was in school I think and they pulled us out of class to make us do this special assembly type thing. My class walked down to an area that looked like the auditorium stage but it was all boxed in. The walls and floor were black. There were X’s on the floor with white tape. We all had to go stand on one of the x’s. They told us we were part of a clincal study. Then while we were all standing there they turned out the lights and there was just one stage light on in the front so everything was really dim. This lady walked up with a spoon or a pipe or something in her hand and scooped a little bit of something onto it, then she put it right in my face. The room was getting filled with really heavy/sticky smoke after that. Everyone was getting high on the weed stuff she was waving around and all the smoke in the room. I couldn’t breathe. The air felt too heavy and I thought I was going to suffocate. I laid on the floor and I was tripping out really bad. Everyone else was laughing and having fun and I just wanted out of there. They kept touching my arm and trying to get me to stand up but I couldn’t. They were saying “it’s ok you're just high. It’s fun” and I just kind of whined a little and tried to find a way to breathe. Then they turned on these big fans and sucked all the smoke out and everyone walked out happy and laughing. I stood up to go too but I was shaking and dizzy and a little nauseus. The lady came over to talk to me but before she could say anything I woke up.

Usually my dreams have something to do with what I saw and heard, talked about, or thought about during the day but this had nothing to do with anything so it was weird.
